About Dr Rashmi Kumar
Dr. Rashmi Kumar is a retired Professor and former Head of the Department of Pediatrics at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.
After graduating and completing her MD in Pediatrics from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and working for three years in the United Kingdom, she joined King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, where she served for 35 years.
She developed the Pediatric Neurology Unit in the Department of Pediatrics and brought up the specialty of child neurology in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She was also President, Association of Child Neurology India for 2 years and President Lucknow Academy of Pediatrics.

- Dr. Rashmi Kumar is a graduate and postgraduate (Pediatrics) of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
- She has more than 30 years of experience in Pediatric Neurology. She developed the specialty of Pediatric Neurology in Uttar Pradesh.
- She has taught Pediatrics, including Pediatric Neurology, for 35 years at the renowned King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. Most of her teaching, research, and patient care has been in the field of Pediatric Neurology, which forms a significant proportion of pediatric practice.
- At KGMU, she ran a busy Pediatric Neurology Clinic, with patients coming from most of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
- She served as President of the Association of Child Neurology, India, during 2015–16.
- She has about 130 publications in this field and has delivered more than 170 invited lectures and talks, besides presenting her work at various conferences in India and abroad.
- She has conducted over 13 major research projects as Principal Investigator on neurological problems in children.
- She has received awards from the Indian Council of Medical Research. Since 2022, she has been featured in Stanford University (USA) list of the top 2% of scientists globally.
